Nukeproof’s First Ever E-bike: The Megawatt

It’s been a long time coming and absolutely worth the wait! Nukeproof have just released details of their all-new electric mountain bike, the Megawatt!

The Nukeproof Mega was created in 2009 and has been developed and improved over the years to become the Mega V4 that is known and loved today but Nukeproof haven’t stopped there as they introduce their first ever E-bike in to the range, The Megawatt!

Whilst the Megawatt shares the race proven geometry of the Nukeproof Mega, it does so in an all new mixed wheel size platform. A 29” wheel up front to maximise rolling efficiency with a 27.5” wheel out back. This ensures the Megawatt has the ability to whip around even the tightest of Alpine trail, whilst still inspiring confidence in the stability to attacking the roughest terrain.

The range features three versions:

  • The Megawatt Factory
  • The Megawatt Elite
  • The Megawatt Comp

We were lucky enough to get our hands on the Factory edition to give you all a closer look at what is has to offer (It’s worth pointing out that the graphics on this sample bike are slightly different to the production bikes) check it out below:

All Megawatt models will come the Shimano EP8 motor. Let’s take a closer look at the models in the range:

At the top of the range is the Megawatt Factory…

At the rear the 170mm travel Fox float X2 Factory Series shock has easily adjustable speed compression as well as speed rebound for smoother impact resistance and control for whatever challenges the trail brings.

The Shimano STEPS EP8 motor is paired up with Shimano’s own XT 12 speed drive train for smooth, precise and reliable shifting.

Featuring dedicated e-mountain biking wheels from DT Swiss and to complete the bike there’s finishing kit from Nukeproof plus a dropper seatpost from Bikeyoke. This bike looks as good as it rides.
