Gore throws shade on its advanced Shakedry jackets
When Gore launched its revolutionary Shakedry fabric, there was just one problem – it could only be manufactured in black.
But, after two years of research and testing, the boffins at Gore have found a way around the problem, allowing them to add a splash of colour to the advanced two-layer fabric.
Set for release on 14 December, the Gore Shakedry jackets will be available at Chain Reaction Cycles in Pacific Blue, Storm Blue, and Lava Grey.
When it was first introduced, the Shakedry system set a global benchmark in protective cycling and running gear.
The innovation allowed Gore to eliminate the waterproof membrane that is usually bonded to the underside of the jacket’s outer layer – known as the ‘face fabric’. By creating a durable outer surface on which the water forms beads, wearers can simply flap the surface dry.
In use, whether running or cycling, the jacket sheds water continuously, so that moisture doesn’t build-up on the surface.
But, according to Gore, technical limitations had meant adding new colours was impossible – until now.
Now, following their latest advance, Gore is releasing their Shakedry jackets not only with new base colours but with added highlighted details to create a modern and sleek appearance.
The Lava grey jacket will be paired with a reflective ion coral colour, a subtle contrast shade that enables day and night-time visibility for riders and runners.
Designed for the demanding athlete, the jacket is ideal if you’re aiming to perform at your best even when the weather is less than ideal.
Reflective detailing also features, ensuring wearers can be seen, even in low visibility.
The jackets are available in male and female styles, with hooded, non-hooded and high-viz options also available.
Check out the full range at Chain Reaction Cycles, which is among just a handful of retailers where the new jacket tech is available.
