Chain Reaction Cycles have teamed up with Irish road cycling star Sean Kelly to give you a legend’s eye view of one of the most thrilling descents at this year’s Tour of Britain.
As well as the video above, the ‘Ride with a legend in 360°’ experience will form part of the Chain Reaction Cycles expo at every finish village at this year’s Tour of Britain, offering visitors the unique chance to ride with ‘King Kelly’.
Carving through the epic scenery served up in the stunning Welsh mountains, the ride starts on the descent off the back of the second King of the Mountains section on stage four of the Tour of Britain, Denbigh to Builth Wells.
Sean Kelly and Damien Shaw look on to the descent ahead.
The 360 rig is attached securely to Sean’s Vitus bike.
Sean, Damien and videographer Andy ‘Honcho’ Yoong happy with a good day’s filming.
Seven GoPros were attached to the custom mount rig which was attached to the bike via the handlebar and front fork dropout…
…The footage was then imported onto a computer and the seven files stitched together to create one 360-degree video.
It’s a tough process – if just one of your cameras fails or you get a bit of rain on one of the lenses, the entire shoot is useless. You need all seven to be working for the entirety of the run!
