Garmin Vivoactive smart watchGarmin have released a new Vívoactive smart watch,  one of those gadgets we know we’ll just need to have. But more than that, this new smart watch claims to help you maintain the perfect healthy balance between work, life and fitness.

[It'll be available from Chain Reaction Cycles very soon [mid-January 2015] and prices will range from £199.99 – £299.99.]

With a high resolution touch screen, built-in running, biking, golfing, swimming and activity tracking apps that let you view your stats, even when away from your phone – the Vívoactive will ease seamlessly into your active life.

Plus as it wirelessly syncs with Garmin Connect, you will be able to track your progress, join online challenges and compete worldwide with family and friends.

Apple Watch Sport
With built in sports apps, smart notifications and GPS technology it isn’t the first of its kind in wearable technology, as Apple are just one among many to promise the release of a similar smart watch. i.e. Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport [above].

Don't worry if you always want to know what’s happening in the world or if you never want to miss a phone call or important email when we’re out on your bike, off for a run or in the pool, you can pair the Vívoactive to your Smartphone and receive vibration alerts for calls, messages and notifications.

With a simple touch and swipe of the screen you can read more emails or text messages or clear the notification to get back to what you're doing with the press of a button.

We’re gadget fans, and this Vívoactive is right up our street, with personalisation available in the form of free downloads from Connect IQ on Garmin Connect and a range of watch face designs to choose from, no two would have to be the same.

After all this, you’d be forgiven for thinking all this technology would compromise battery life.

However, the rechargeable battery lasts a claimed three weeks in watch/activity tracking mode or up to 10 hours using GPS, keeping the watch on your wrist and not on the charger – and let’s not forget, as it's water resistant it allows you to sweat, swim and shower without it ever having to leave your sight.
