Highlights from the day included Jordi Quintanas taking the win in the under-18 race and Pere Batllori clinching second in the M-50's category.
Technical Director Oscar Sánchez reports from the race: "The morning started with the female, under-18, M-30, under-16, M-40/50/60 and F-under-18/16 categories. Soon Jordi Quintanas (CRC-Bike Area Llagostera) led the race with another under-18 rider from France until the third lap out of four when Jordi launched his attack and fled to victory. Meanwhile our under-16's had their first ever big race with Arnau Oliver finishing in 13th place and Arnau Donate in 14th. Our young female Sílvia Roura was sixth.
The second podium of the day came from the M-50's with a second for Pere Batllori. Quim Esparraguera (2009 Spanish M-50 Champion) took fourth. The rest of the team riders had a good day in general lifting the team to fourth place overall. This is our best ever team result in Banyoles.
It's a very good start to the season. I'm very happy for Jordi because it's his home race and his first victory after four years racing here and coming second twice. We've been the second Catalonian squad and that's big. Can't wait for the Spanish Open in Salamanca on April 1st. The new team's layout has made its impact at the biggest cross-country event in Spain and the team is on fire with all of it."
