Team CRC-Nukeproof-Ireland put their new Nukeproof Pulse bikes to the test over the weekend at the IDMS Winter League in Bree Hill, County Wexford, dominating the podium.
The guys in the Bree Racing club had done a lot of work on the track before the race and it made for a great track and everyone was excited to get riding. It was great to see the amount of attention the new bikes were getting with many people coming over and asking about them, it was fair to say everyone was impressed!
First to race was Ben Kennedy in the Under-16 category:
"My weekend went quite well, I had a good few runs in practice and felt good and was really enjoying the track. My seeding run went well, I put in quite a decent time being over 10 seconds ahead of second place but I knew I had more in the track for the race run.
“I really wanted to knock a few seconds off my seeding time to get me a good place in the overall times. In my race run I pushed the top section very hard and felt very fast but quite sketchy. As a result of this I ended up taking it too careful in the bottom section and ended up being two seconds slower but still took first place in youth which I was happy with."
Fellow teammate Dan Sheridan also enjoyed the track, saying:
"After arriving home later Friday night from Spain I was straight into it and getting the bike out of the bag for a weekend’s racing!
“The track in Bree was really fun and rolling really fast despite the muddy conditions. A few hours of practice on Sunday morning then it was into the seeding run. This went well for me and I had a steady run down and was first in Elites. Next up was race runs, which didn't go as well. A big mistake at the top blowing out a turn and then a series of smaller ones at the bottom due to trying to regain time ended my chances of a win so I had to settle with second! A fun weekend of racing in all!"
Chris took the win in the Elite and the fastest time of the day:
"I was looking forward to racing this weekend as it was the first race we had all team members present on the new bikes and was great to see the reactions it was getting.
Watch Chris’s seeding run now:
“Practice went well for me; I was having fun on the track which flowed really well even with the amount of rain during the day. I went for a quick tyre change to the Schwalbe Dirty Dan before the end of practice and rushed off for one final practice run.
“My seeding run went well, I hit all my lines, only made one minor mistake and came down into second place just behind Dan. I grabbed a quick bite to eat and headed up for my race run, this went really well, I pushed it hard to the line and had a fairly clean run and managed to take the win. I was happy with this and was good to get my first win on board the Pulse before heading to Spain next week for some much needed sun and dusty trails! "
