This will make more than a few of you mountain bikers happy – Rockshox have brought back the much-loved Pike suspension fork for 2014, which is available from Chain Reaction Cycles now.
Promising the stiffness of their long-travel burly Lyrik fork, and the weight of their nimble Revelation, the Pike is available for 26”, 27.5” and 29” wheel sizes, and offer up to 160mm or 150mm of travel, as well as 140mm travel for the 29” Solo Air version.
As well as a completely redesigned chassis, the internals of the Pike are all-new, the most significant of which is the Charger Damper. The Charger uses a unique and robust extruded bladder design, allowing for an air-tight fully bled system resulting in great damping consistency. It also allows you to run more of the force of the fork down through the damping circuitry, and a little less through the spring system, which allows you to ride high in the stroke where the fork is at its softest. This bladder charged system makes for great consistency on the trail.
• 35mm chassis
• Brand new crown
• Dedicated 15x100mm axle
• Tapered steerer
• All new maxle-light design
See it in action on the trail:
There are two different models:
RCT3 – which features three positions on the compression modes.
Open: for ultimate bump compliance;
Pedal: for efficiency but bump compliance on the trail;
Locked: for ultimate efficiency.
RC – which goes all the way from an open compression setting to a locked setting.
