Lukas and Michael Mechura raced in the first ever European round of the Red Bull Pump Riders over the weekend in Prague, Czech Republic, where Lukas finished third in the BMX class and Michael just missed out on the MTB podium, finishing in fourth place.
What’s Pump Riders? It’s an adrenaline pumping, audience-friendly bike race that sees riders compete head-to-head on a symmetrical track on bikes that don’t have chains!
Riders had to use all their upper body strength to power and pump along the track during the ‘best of three’ rounds of racing.
Lukas raced in the BMX class, falling victim to mechanical failure in the first round of the semi-final when his rear wheel let him down. Round two was better with Lukas taking the win but not making up enough time overall to reach the main final. He won both runs in his small final and finished third overall.

Michael Mechura entered the MTB class and was riding well, beating Michal Prokop in the first race of the semi-final. Bad news in the second run though as Michael crashed in the corner which sent him into the small final which he lost and finished fourth in his race.
Lukas said: “Over 3,500 spectators in the centre of Prague made for a great race. The event was superb with all kind of bikers together in one place!”
