The 2019 International Day of Dirt saw thousands of riders around the world taking part and uploading their experiences to social media.
Organised by Chain Reaction Cycles, the event brought mountain bikers across the globe together for a day of skills, speed, and socialising.
The International Day of Dirt on Saturday 13th April began in Australia, where mountain bikers at the Linga Longa bike park in Western Australia enjoyed a day of uplifts, awesome riding and of course, a barbecue.
Linga Longa was just one of over 100,000 participating trails in 95 countries, and was one of three feature locations that included Rostrevor in Northern Ireland and the Sea Otter Classic in California USA.
The Northern Irish feature location was the next to start, where pro riders including Kelan Grant, Luke Cryer and Nigel Page offered tips and dropped jaws with an insane display of skill on Rostrevor’s downhill and cross-country trails.
CRC staffers hung out with the crowds and offered out a range of free kit, including goggles, components, clothing and nutrition, while a fully stocked demo bike expo was also on hand from CRC’s Boucher Road Store with the latest and greatest bikes from Nukeproof and Vitus available to test ride.
At the Sea Otter Classic in California’s seaside destination of Monterey, Chain Reaction Cycles’ Pump Track was in operation, demoing the latest Vitus and Nukeproof bikes and offering the chance to win spot prizes. Here’s freeride supremo Martin Söderström styling it out on the track:
Meanwhile our CRC mechanic Vicky joined Park Tool legend Calvin to spanner with Little Bellas, a mountain bike organisation whose goal is to help young women realise their potential through cycling.
Over 2,000 Instagram uploads have so far been made from trails across the globe, while hundreds more have been uploaded through Facebook and Twitter all tagged with either #DayofDirt or #ChainReactionCycles.
And there’s good reason to keep uploading your videos and pics until the closing date of 30th April as Team Chain Reaction Cycles Mavic prepare to choose their favourite entry who’ll win a Nukeproof Mega 275 Alloy Comp Mountain Bike, armed with a SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed groupset, RockShox suspension, Nukeproof Neutron Wheelset, and Michelin Wild Enduro tyres.
So until the promotion closes, here’s a few of our highlights from an amazing weekend of global mountain biking action!
